Activities to do with your three year old

Are you bored and can’t think of what to do with your three year old? In my opinion, I think three year olds are such a fun age to do things with. Working with the three year old group most of the summer, I have learned a lot of fun different things that you could do with them. Some kids really enjoyed them while others didn’t really care for the activity. At this age, they will definitely voice their opinion whether they like something or not.
Some of the fun activities that we did with them were; cooking projects, art projects, games out-side and inside, played with side walk chalk, had splash days, etc. Three year olds are energetic and creative and you can broaden your ideas with different projects that you can do with your child.
The kids loved cooking!  You just need to position them where they can see, reach, and have a chance to really help. A good thing to do as the grown- up is to measure out the ingredients and they can pour them into the bowl. Some of the cooking projects that we did with them were; making play dough, they are so excited to play with it after it was all finished. A neat thing to with it and make it a little more interesting  is put food coloring in it and even sprinkles or something to make it more sparkly. Another cooking project that the kids loved was during our boat and ocean unit. We made blue jell-o and put it in a plastic cup, and then when it was set up, took an orange and cut it into slices and put a tooth pick in it and place it in in the blue jell-o.  I looked like a sail boat sailing on the water. It was really realistic and the kids did an awesome job. They got to enjoy their hard work and got eat it for snack. We tried to do one cooking project a week with them and they always fought over who was going to help first. There’s so many different things you can make with them. It’s such a wonderful time.
Kids always love doing art. From coloring a picture from scratch or making things. Our kids love our art center. They were always using their imagination and taking paper and making things using stickers, stamps, string, etc. making things for their moms and dads. The best part is their excitement when they give it to their parents and the look on their face that shows how much they love it. This always makes them happy.  You just need to use your imagination and you can come up with a lot of cute craft ideas using scraps of art materials.
You know kids love being out side. They could spend all day out there if you let them. You can do a lot of different activities with them. From going to the park and letting them play on the swings and other equipment, to going on scavenger hunts, playing ball, games, using side walk chalk and writing their name and having a paint brush with water and they can trace their name or anything else they want you to draw. They enjoyed that and gives them practice of writing their name. You can even put on your own splash days. There’s lot of things that you can do out-side.
Having a three year old is such a great age group. You can carry on such good conversations and do all of these fun activities with them.  You don’t have to be bored, just use your imagination as well as theirs and you will think of something amazing to do.  Being bored with your child is not acceptable, because they are only little once and is a time to enjoy them.
